SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE CHEESE

After 5 or so years and a couple of EPs, St Andrews Fall have finally decided to throw in the towel. Our final show will be this Saturday night. The night is also the opening of a brand new venue in Red Hill. They open, we close. Ironic? Maybe it's just what happened.

The address is Lower 151 Musgrave Rd, Red Hill. Doors open at a respectfully early 7:30 and we'll be hitting the stage at around 9pm.

Come one, come all. Tell your friends and come and get really drunk with us.

THU 21 DECEMBER: THE TROUBADOUR. GRAND ATLANTIC + ST ANDREWS FALL + SNOWTOWN. $7. BARGAIN.

Hey there all!

Sorry about the hibernation and lack of contact thing…. And not replying to peoples emails and myspace messages….. We've been very busy recording the new album. Sick of hearing us use that as an excuse? Trust me- so are we.

We've finally decided that enough's enough and it's time to do another show. But not just any show. A Christmas show. Yes, a Christmas show. Some of you may well have been at last years event and will surely realise how un-missable this event is. We'll be playing a truckload of songs from the new album as well as some of your favourite Christmas songs….. played slightly differently than you may remember hearing as a small child.

Grand Atlantic and Snowtown will be joining us on the auspicious occasion and they too will be pumping out the Christmas hits. It's only $7 so you can't use being broke as an excuse, and it's the silly season anyway. We're being silly so really, you should be too.

We've also finally gotten our latest addition of Art (the sensationally gifted keyboard/violin/mandolin/everything player) in front of the camera and updated our pic on myspace too. Hopefully some of the new tunes will be up there in the coming months too. www.myspace.com/standrewsfallband

Righto- over and out from me. We really hope you can make it to the show. If for no other reason, to tell us that our new songs don't suck, coz we're the only ones that have heard them.

See you there.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Sam

St Andrews Fall play the Troubadour this Thursday

What do Claire Perkins, Snowtown and St Andrews Fall have in common? They all think your Mum is a tramp. Now if you would like to respond to this cowardly accusation (and let’s face it, it’s your Mum, you have to) come along to the Troubadour this Thursday night (30th) where they will all be playing some pretty hot tunes, starting around 8.30 with Clare Perkins, 9.30 Snowtown, then 10.30 St Andrews Fall.
We (St Andrews Fall) will be proudly showing off our new keyboard player Art on the night, so come and have a gawk. We ask that you do not feed him, but you’re more than welcome to give him a good pat on the belly, which he loves. Cost is just $5. $10 for your Mum ‘cause, well, you know…..

The other one is at THE ZOO this Saturday the 11th of Feb as part of 'The Living Room'. The stellar line up for the night is St Andrews Fall (of course), Andrew Morris, Chris Pickering, Corinna Steel, A Fleeting Glimpse and The Tonights. KEYBOARDIST WANTED!

St Andrews Fall are looking to expand to a 5 piece with the introduction of a keyboard player. Only problem is- we don't know any.

SO, if you're a keyboard player, or you know someone who is and might be interested, then let us know. We don't care if you're a guy or a girl (or somewhere in between) although if you can sing a bit that would be cool. We're really after someone who is keen to join a band and contribute to the existing songs as well as be a part of the writing process of the new material. If you're not familiar with our stuff, take a look at www.standrewsfall.com to get some MP3s. If you like what you hear, then call Russ on 0414 703 043 or email russ@standrewsfall.com

Call us. Go on, I dare you.

Remember the Christmas Spirit

It's so easy in this modern world of ours to lose sight of what Christmas is really all about. Of course I'm talking about sinking piss and listening to rock n roll. So this wednesday (21st) why not hop on your camel and mosey on down to the Troubadour in the Brunswick St mall, where St Andrews Fall, Grand Atlantic, A Fleeting Glimpse, Marty Brown, and Jacob S Harris will bring joy to the world on a far from silent night. Oh so special renditions of Christmas favourites have been prepared especially for this show, so hark! come along and have a great time.

CD LAUNCH NEXT WEEK!

Well, it's been a long time coming (only 6 months I suppose), but the new St Andrews Fall EP has been released!

"if only i meant what i mean..." was released yesterday through Shock records- go out and buy one- it's only $8. If you need to order it in, the catalogue number is SAF002. You can also order it online:

From Shock Records: http://www.shock.com.au/artists/releases.asp?artist_ID=73251
From Sanity: http://www.sanity.com.au/artist.asp?intArtistID=196797
From HMV: http://www.hmv.com.au/product/rockpop.asp?sku=971694

We've put up some MP3 samples on the audio page if you want to have a 'try before you buy' experience too.

AND we've got some gigs coming up that you really should come to if you can.
This Friday 14 April will see us at The Chincogan Hotel in Mullumbimby (free entry), and then we play The Chophouse in Surfers Paradise on Sat 15th. The amazingly talented Andrew McCubbin (from Melbourne) will be joining us for both of those shows.

Then, on April 23, let it now be said that you are to be nowhere else but The Troubadour for the official launch party of the new CD. Joining us on the night will be none other than The Bowls Club and Tonjip, easily two of Brisbane best bands. Tickets for the Troubadour show are on sale now from Rockinghorse and Skinnys. For online sales, go to http://www.rockinghorse.net/tickets.php

The launch for Julia Smiles sold out- so make sure you buy your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. If you want to buy tickets, but can't make it to either of those stores (and don't like buying stuff on the interweb), email us (band@standrewsfall.com) and we'll sort something out with cheques or something old fashioned like that.

CDs will be on sale and there'll be lots o' partying and carrying on- so come down and party with us. This will be our last headlining show in Brisbane for a while as we start knuckling down to record the next CD in a couple of weeks, and then we're touring through June.

Hope you're all well and hope to see you at one of the shows!

Sam.

ps: sorry this post isn't funny like the other ones. Russ is at work and he's the funny one.

We are on first, around 8.30, and would love to see you, your friends and family there. Having said that, if your sworn enemy shows up too, we will welcome them with open arms.
By the way, the new cd is finished and you'll be able to hear it soon! We'll be playing all the songs Friday so get along if you can.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Well we've been a little slack with writing of late, so here we are with some news. The recording of the new EP is complete! Yes, that's right folks- 4 brand new tracks will soon be on shiny little discs for you to buy.

We haven't confirmed a release date yet (and we still have to finish off mixing it of course) but we're hoping for mid April-ish... we'll let you know.

In gig news.... The show that was happening this Thursday at the Troubadour is no longer happening- so if you planning to go and see us, we won't be there! Our next show is on Friday 11 Feb with fantastic Sydney band (and Shock label-mates) The Devoted Few. The gig is on at The Zoo and proceedings will kick off around 8pm and I'd say we'll be on at 8:30ish.

Hope to see you there. More news | to top

OOPS, WE DID IT AGAIN...

seems we have a pathological issue with not telling the truth... we're playing one last and final show for 2004.... again.

Fri Dec 17 will see us at the Troubadour once more with The Bowls Club. The door will be smashingly small so we can compete with your Christmas shopping urges ($6... that's less than some beers).

We're really looking forward to this one, and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us through this year. To the venues, street-press, bands we've played with, and of course the people who come to the shows, we send a massive THANK YOU.

2004 saw us release our debut EP "Julia Smiles" which I'm sure some of you have in your CD collections at home (if you don't, it's in all good record stores now... links to online retailers are on the audio page). Due to the unexpected support from those mentioned above, we've been able to get back into the studio sooner than expected to record the follow-up. As I type this, Paul's doing vocal takes in the home studio next door, so if a song called "Accidentally Fine" makes it on to the next CD, you can say you were sort of there when he was laying down his vocal tracks...

We hope to see you on the 17th, but if not have a cracker Christmas and a great New Year and we'll see you in late Feb with a brand new CD (and a big tour as well...)

sam, werner, russ & paul.

Not sure at this point what the door charge will be, but I'm guessing it'll be under $5.

Last Brissie gig for 2004!

I'm tired. And maybe a little hungover.

Thanks to everyone who came down to see us and Adelaide's amazing Special Patrol last night at the Rev. If you're in the area, we're playing with the lovely boys and girls again tonight at the Chincogan Hotel in Mullumbimby. We're on around 8ish, and they're on at 10ish.

If you're not in the area (highly likely I'm guessing), and missed last night's show, then we highly recommend that you go and see Special Patrol in the Valley Mall tonight (Friday). They're on at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm, and then they'll be driving as far as their Tarago will take them to get to the Mullumbimby show in time!

Also, we're playing next weekend at the Zoo (Saturday 6 November). The excellent Epicure have asked us to play with them once more, and we're delighted to be playing with them again. And to make it even better, Love Outside Andromeda are playing as well! Crikey- what a night. We'll be on first (8-ish) so get there early.

It's looking as though this will be our last show in Brisbane for the year as we're locking ourselves in the studio for most of December and January to record the new EP which will be released in late Feb.

Have a great weekend, and hopefully we'll see you at the Zoo on the 6th.

Special Patrol

all fans of melodic, thoughtful non-offensive rock and uncomfortable silences should get along to the Rev on Thursday 28 October where St Andrews Fall will be demonstrating their mastery of both.
The new ep Julia Smiles got a couple of great reviews in the local mags even if we do say so ourselves, so we'll play all those songs and more. If you think we suck live (which we don't and you shouldn't say things like that anyway), then purchase a copy of the cd for just $5.
If you still think we suck (and we definitely don't so you should just drop it), you'll be home by then and it will be too late to do anything about it.
oh, and we're playing on the Friday in Mullumbimby too. Both shows are with Special Patrol who are from Adelaide, and they're awesome.

Featuring the stellar lineup of Conrad Taylor (Affro Dizzi-Act, Ohneatasweater, Guy Webster & The Lost Band, Joy Hester Eyes to name a few) Ben Carstens (Ohneatasweater, Mexico City, Wes Davidson) and Chris Costello, these guys are one of the best new bands this city has to offer.

Best supporting act!
Thank you to everyone who came down to the Troubadour last Saturday. Sean and Bron were brilliant and A Fleeting Glimpse were totally amazing. I'd never seen a guitar being played with a bow before.....
Anyway, our next show is with Gus & Frank and Soucasa on Thu 27 May at the Zoo. Tickets are on sale now for $10 + booking fee from Rockinghorse, Skinnys and Music Scene. Or if you know one of us, you can buy them from us for $10 with no booking fee.
Also, we've been getting heaps of email from people commenting on the new songs in the audio section- all very positive- so thanks very much! We're really happy with it and a release date as well as a CD launch date will be announced in the next month.

Music Music Music!
The new EP is finished! Some samples are on the audio page- have a listen and let us know what you think. Big thanks and cuddles go to the amazing Neil Coombe for producing the record with huge amounts of patience!
There's still a while before the EP will be available in stores, so feel free to send this link around to people who you think might get into it.
Our next show is Saturday May 8 at the Troubadour in the Valley, so come on down. You won't be able to buy any copies at the show as we're still finalising artwork, but we'll be giving away a few 'advance' copies at the show (sans artwork cheapo burns).
We'll hopefully be launching the new EP in mid/late June- we'll keep you posted
:)

Back to The Alley
We're back at The Alley next Thursday 1 April. If you managed to see the opening act for Gaslight Radio at The Zoo last week, you would have seen The Zebras. These guys are great- and they're playing with us next Thursday! The gig's only $4 and it'll be our last until at least mid May while we finish production of the new EP.

Sodastream
A massive shout out to Sodastream for having us last night at the Rails in Byron Bay. We had an awesome time hanging out with the lads again and can't wait until they return once more to the north. Pity about the extreme heat though, sorry boys! All the best for the US tour next month. :) More news | to top

Sellout!
Yup- The Troubadour sold out last night in record time (around 8:45pm). Massive thank you's go out to Danny Widdicombe, The Troubadour and Giants of Science. We stepped into the unknown with a full acoustic set, but it worked well, and i daresay we'll be doing more like them in the future (both of the next shows anyway!) We're back in the studio this week at The Whiteroom with legend Neil Coombe behind the desk to do dome more tracking for the new EP, which is still set for a May release. Hopefully see you at The Rails in Byron Bay on the 15th or at Rics in Brisbane on the 23rd

Dans flyer
Firstly- thanks to all who came to the Troubadour show last night- once again- a lovely time was had by all. Special thanks to Deb from Brindle and The Peachfish for opening the night with a magical solo set. We highly recommend anyone to see either of her bands (or both if you can).

We've booked another couple of shows in Brisbane. The band has been asked to play a benefit show for a our good friend Dan who is having an operation soon for cancer treatment. It's going to be a great night with heaps of bands, giveaways and cheap drinks. The show is at The Troubadour on Saturday 31st January with Giants of Science, George's Bush and a few other great Brissie bands. Come along and have a great night and support a really worthwhile thing. All door money goes towards Dan's treatment, and it's only $10 which is bugger-all really!!

Then we'll be doing the Sodastream show in Byron Bay on the 15th Feb, then back to Brisbane to play at Rics on the 23rd Feb. More news | to top

9/1/04:
Well, whaddya know- it's 2004!

Happy New Year to everyone- especially if you were one of the many who turned up for last nights gig at The Zoo. As usual we had a great time (even with a broken string in the middle of the crescendo of Julia Smiles). A very big THANK YOU goes out to everyone who turned up to the show. To be honest we were quite nervous about playing at such a big venue so early on in our 'career', but the turnout was so impressive that we've been asked back again later in the year, so we'll keep you posted on that.

Our next gig is Thu 22nd January at The Troubadour- we hope to see you there. We're taking most of February off to finish the new EP, and will only be doing one show. We're very happy to say that Sodastream have asked us to play with them once again- this show will be Sun 15 Feb @ The Railway Hotel in Byron Bay. So, if you can't make it to that show in Feb, you'd better come on the 22nd or you'll get St Andrews Withdrawal!

Unless of course you feel like doing the drive south to the Byron show :) ...... or you live near Byron Bay...

9/12/03:
Had a great weekend, thanks for asking! The Gold Coast show on Friday was fun, even with having a blowout at 110km/h on the freeway! Nearly lost the rhythm section, but all's good now. The Troubadour gig on Saturday was a total blast with a fantastic number of people turning up for the show- thanks! And thanks as well to Wurlybird for playing on those shows too.
We're taking a bit of a break for the rest of December to finish off the pre-production, but will be back for a show at The Zoo on Thursday 8 Jan next year. Playing the same stage as Turin Brakes four days previously is a bit of a hoot. :)

13/11/03:
Well pre-production is well underway and we're thinking the new EP is going to sound pretty damn good (if we do say so ourselves). So far we've almost finished pre-production recording of 8 new songs and are looking at doing another 4. Of those, 5 will be re-recorded in January and released in mid 2004.

26/10/03:
Thanks to everyone who came down to the shows on Thursday and Friday. Was great to road-test some of the newies. Special thanks to Greg and Anna for coming down to Friday's show- always nice to catch up with old friends!! Particularly nice to see familiar faces in the crowd when you're playing in a different city!
Apologies to those who came on Thursday to see "George's Bush". Our good friend Danny (the singer) became a proud dad for the second time on Thursday so decided that he'd better stay at the hospital than play the show. We think it's a fair enough excuse so we let him off the hook! CONGRATULATIONS

Well, we still haven't done a bunch of the site because we're slack. But... we have been rehearsing heaps for the upcoming shows and recordings. We've got about 8 gigs across QLD/NSW until the end of the year- they'll be up on the site soon. We'll then be taking January and February off from gigging to finish the new EP.
Here's what the next few months have in store for the band....
We're heading into the studio for pre-production on November 1, and are then booked for early January to record the new EP, tentatively titled "Orange." We will then be touring the new release fairly extensively through Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia over 2004.
